Susanne Reichl and Ute Smit give an exclusive update on the latest developments of our international conference #YouthMediaLife 2021
29 March – 1 April 2021, University of Vienna
„The original plan was of course to welcome you all in person to our beautiful city of Vienna and give you all an unforgettable conference experience. Now, with the CoVid pandemic still in full swing, many of you cannot commit to travelling and quite understandably feel uncomfortable planning even short trips. Since February 2020, we’ve witnessed many conference cancellations, postponements or online conferences. None of this seems suitable for our own conference, so we have decided to try out something new and exciting: a hybrid conference! This is a conference format that integrates on-site and online participation, with a number of tools and activities that bring the online and onsite participants together for academic exchange, but also for socialising and networking.
If you’re thinking of submitting an abstract for our conference, you don’t yet have to commit to travelling to Vienna, or to stay away for that matter. You can leave this decision for later and let us know then.
We also have decided to extend our call for papers to the end of October 2020. This, we hope, will give you plenty of time to think about what you could contribute to our conference, and maybe even reign in your colleagues to plan a panel with you.
Please visit us on our website and on facebook and twitter, and do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about the conference.
We are committed to giving you a great conference experience, complete with online and onsite social events and a great and lively academic programme and all look very much forward to welcoming you to Vienna next March – either face to face or online!“
